Overview

This session is exclusive to The Global Startup Program participants.

The Global Startup Program is an innovation program spearheaded by the Italian Trade Agency and the Italian Government in partnership with Dubai Future Foundation and AREA 2071 to support Italian startups expand their growth in international markets and scaleup.

As part of the program, we will focus on how to drive innovation into governments, introduce UAE’s innovation ecosystem and provide them with access to setting up in the UAE, capacity building workshops, innovation challenges and investor introductions.

Financial modelling is a necessary process for quantifying your business plan and business model. Through validating your assumptions and vision, you are able of find out whether you can turn your ideas into a sustainably operating business and raise external funds. Pricing is also one of the most important pillars of every startup. Underpricing, overpricing or not charging, even if the customers are willing to pay, can mean lower revenue, lost customers or even, startup failure. This class will go through both how to price your startup product and how you can turn that validation into a viable financial model.

Ye Sheng Tan, Head of Community & Investment Director at Farquhar Capital

Ye Sheng Tan is the Head of Community & Investment Director at Farquhar Capital, a Singapore-based early stage venture capital firm focusing on Seed to Series A startups in the Foodtech, Industry 4.0 and Digital Media sectors across Southeast Asia. He is also currently a mentor at 500 Startups and an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Startup Scout. Prior to this, he was an investment manager at NUS Enterprise and also worked in a pricing function at MNCs such as DHL Express and United Engineers.
